Highland Lakes Elementary Principal Leslie Talamantes has submitted her resignation effective January 26, 2024. Ms. Talamantes has recently accepted a district-level position outside of Marble Falls ISD with the purpose of career advancement.

Marble Falls ISD is actively working to ensure a smooth transition for our school community. At a later date, the position of Highland Lakes Elementary School Principal for the 2024-2025 school year will be posted to invite applications from qualified candidates.

Until a permanent replacement is named, MFISD announces Suzie Neuenschwander as the Interim Principal of Highland Lakes Elementary School. Ms. Neuenschwander has been an integral part of the Marble Falls ISD team, serving as the Federal Programs Compliance Coordinator. Her wealth of experience, deep passion for education, and commitment to inspiring and nurturing all students make her an ideal candidate for this interim role.

Suzie Neuenschwander brings an impressive background to the MFISD school community. With 23 years of experience in education, she began her career as a kindergarten teacher in Pflugerville, Texas, and later pursued a Master's degree in Educational Leadership at Stephen F. Austin. Ms. Neuenschwander has served as a campus principal for three of her seven years in administration, demonstrating expertise in positive behavior management, growth mindset, inquiry learning, instructional coaching, special services, robotics, and fostering a positive school culture.

Ms. Neuenschwander’s philosophy aligns with proactive strategies for success, open communication, and community involvement. Suzie is dedicated to building relationships that foster a team culture, encouraging and coaching others to achieve their highest goals.

Outside of her professional life, Suzie enjoys kayaking, fishing, writing, drawing, watching sports, and spending time outdoors. She values quality time with her husband, Jeff, and their two boys, Kade (18) and Koby (16).

Suzie Neuenschwander will officially join Highland Lakes Elementary School as Interim Principal starting January 17, 2024. Her leadership will contribute to the continued success and growth of the MFISD school community during this transition period.

MFISD shares confidence that the excellent foundation at Highland Lakes Elementary School can be built upon in this transition. Collective efforts ensure that students will continue to learn and achieve their fullest potential.
