Marble Falls Education Foundation awards 80 grants to teachers and staff across Marble Falls ISD
The Marble Falls Education Foundation received eighty applications from teachers and staff across all seven campuses to be considered to receive a mini-grant for up to $250 to fulfill classroom needs. Applications included items such as a binding machine, typical school supplies like pencils and paper, science tools, math manipulatives, books, flexible seating options, sensory items, educational games, robots, cleaning supplies, noise-cancelling headphones, garden supplies, exercise equipment, musical instruments, personal hygiene items for students, art supplies, mental wellness supplies, solar lights, puppets, choir risers, insects, blocks, tools and power tools, a rocking chair, kitchen utensils, and language support items.
The Marble Falls Education Foundation provided funding of up to $250 to every teacher who applied this year. This unprecedented ability to fulfill every grant request totaling just over $19,000 is made possible by generous donors who believe in the power of public education. While much of the funding is provided by private donors, some of the funding comes from teachers and staff at the schools through Employee Giving to the Grants for Great Ideas fund.
This year, 82% of MFISD employees contributed to the Employee Giving program. This program allows teachers and staff to make a one time or recurring donation to the Education Foundation to be used to fund grants available to teachers, administrators and staff. The distribution of collected funds is designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches to support higher levels of students learning.
“We are thrilled to provide financial support to our teachers and staff who give so much to the students across the district,” said Jeanna Jette, Executive Director of the Marble Falls Education Foundation. “Often times teachers pay for these items out of their own pockets, but we want them to know there is a community behind them ready to provide support.”
