Mustangs Promote Clarissa Cardenas to Head Softball Coach
Marble Falls High School has promoted assistant coach Clarissa Cardenas to be the new Head Softball Coach for the Lady Mustangs.
Coach Cardenas enters her third year with the Lady Mustangs and will continue her role teaching at the middle school.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to promote Coach Cardenas to lead our softball program. She is a decorated collegiate player with previous head coaching experience and we know she’s going to do a great job for the Mustangs,” Athletic Director Rick Hoover said.
Prior to coming to Marble Falls, Cardenas was the Head Softball Coach at Juarez-Lincoln High School in La Joya ISD. “I would like to thank Marble Falls ISD for this great opportunity. I am truly excited for the future of this program and look forward to continuing to work with such a wonderful group of girls. My mission is to lead the girls to become the best softball player they can be while helping to develop amazing and confident young women,” Cardenas said.
Originally from Mission, TX, Coach Cardenas was a three sport athlete for Sharyland High School. She lettered for four years in softball, basketball, and track. She won numerous awards during her high school playing career, which included First Team All-District honors in softball all four years. She was also a three time First Team All-District selection in basketball.
After heavy recruitment by multiple schools, Cardenas decided to play softball for Texas A&M International. Her collegiate career was packed with awards and records. She set seven different university records during her playing days and remains in the top ten in several different categories. In her senior campaign with the Dustdevils, she led the team to a Heartland Conference Championship and an appearance in their first ever Regional Tournament. She was voted to the All Heartland Conference team in 2010 and was a Heartland Conference All-Tournament Team selection in 2011.
Coach Cardenas and her husband Eric recently celebrated the birth of their daughter Camila.
