Welcome to the STEAM Academy in Marble Falls ISD!
Applications are open for the 2020-2021 STEAM Academy! Be sure to click on the side toolbars to download an application if needed. Mrs. Bernard and the school counselors visited each 5th grade class to discuss course offerings for next year, and each student received 3 documents
- STEAM Academy application - bright orange paper
- Course Selection sheet - neon green paper
- Course Description sheet - purple paper
Students who wish to join the STEAM Academy for the 2020-2021 school year must submit the STEAM Academy application AND the Course Selection sheet. These documents can be turned in on Monday, February 3rd during Mustang Round-Up, or they can be turned in to your elementary campus counselor. Mustang Round-Up will be held on Monday, February 3rd at the MFMS gyms from 5:00pm - 6:30pm. This is a come-and-go event where students and parents can meet teachers and hear about the courses we offer. All courses will be represented that night.
The goal of the STEAM Academy is to offer integrated learning of the core academics through the lens of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. We believe that learning should be engaging and cross-curricular while focusing on real-world learning opportunities. The student's daily schedule will offer combined academic classes, art, music, choir, theater, pe, technology, and engineering (Project Lead the Way). The STEAM Academy is located inside of MFMS as a “School within a School” model.
STEAM Academy students will have their core academic classes and engineering with STEAM Academy teachers, but the remainder of their electives will be with their middle school peers. STEAM Academy students have the opportunity to participate in all of the same elective and academic offerings just as the traditional middle school students. STEAM Academy students are also in lunch with their grade level peers.
