Hello! I'm Jennifer Virdell, the ARD Facilitator for Colt Elementary & Spicewood Elementary. I was previously the MFISD Transition Coordinator as well as the 18+ Program teacher. In addition to my work experience, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Texas State University- San Marcos and a Masters of Education in Special Education from Lamar University- Beaumont.
What is an ARD Facilitator: The ARD Facilitator is responsible for coordinating, planning and preparing of compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education services. The ARD Facilitator is responsible for chairing or co-chairing ARD meetings at assigned campus or campuses.
While I serve elementary age families, I believe transition starts at this level, so I invite you to explore all the links on my page and get connected to services as early as possible. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions: jvirdell@mfisd.txed.net

Guardianship Alternatives
The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities has a website full of great information, including guardianship information. Supported-Decision Making is an alternative to the expensive and restrictive traditional guardianship. We have a local agency who offers assistance at a reduced cost.
