Marble Falls ISD is closely monitoring events surrounding the coronavirus. We want to assure you that Marble Falls ISD is monitoring the situation through proven and trustworthy sources: our local health department, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These health officials believe the risk to our school community is low at this time. There are no confirmed cases in Burnet County. Marble Falls ISD will continue to work in conjunction with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and will follow their recommendations along with the Centers for Disease Control regarding communicable disease protocols. Local and federal health authorities indicate that the best ways to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus are the same recommendations for preventing the spread of the flu virus and other common respiratory illnesses.
While a new type of illness can be concerning, we can protect our students, teachers, and the broader community by using simple everyday actions that protect people from other types of respiratory viruses. It is important to note we are still in cold and flu season. Parents, students, and staff members are encouraged to follow basic prevention guidelines against the flu and upper respiratory viruses. Basic prevention guidelines include avoiding contact with people who are sick, washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and using alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available. Our teachers, school nurses, and staff are working carefully to encourage these simple and effective habits of frequent hand washing, covering every cough or sneeze and cleaning classroom tables/surfaces frequently. This is important not just to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but to help prevent the spread of other infections that can lead to student illness and absences.
As we continue to work with local health officials and monitor this situation, we will provide updates to our community should it become necessary.
Our school nurses work closely to monitor illnesses, such as the flu. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s school nurse.

COVID-19 Notifications
As you may be aware, there are strict rules (HIPPA) that prohibit District personnel from providing details about the health conditions of a student/staff member. For the privacy and dignity of those who may fall ill, District personnel have been given instructions not to share any information in a way that violates the rules that govern required confidentiality.
Unfortunately, School/District call handlers will not be able to address questions about the possibility of a person having COVID-19. Per the District safety plan and Texas Education Agency requirements, the District will use email to notify the parents and staff of a campus where a person has tested positive for COVID-19, and the information will be posted on the campus website. This information will be provided in English and Spanish.
Other protocols related to the District’s response to a confirmed case of COVID-19 can be found at: https://www.marblefallsisd.org/Page/11326
Thank You and Take Care,
Chris Allen

Notificaciones COVID-19
Dr. Allen has prepared a short informative video detailing the significant changes that will affect our campus when we return from the Christmas break. Please take a moment to review this video.
