The staff members of the Marble Falls ISD Child Nutrition Department (affectionately known as the “lunch ladies”) take great pride in serving tasty, nutritious food to their students and staff in a healthy, clean environment.  Their hard work was recognized last week when all seven campuses in the District achieved perfect “100” scores during the second of two inspections this year.

“I cannot say enough good things about my Child Nutrition Staff,” exclaimed Child Nutrition Director, Mary Davidson.  “It’s all or nothing, and anything short of 100 just doesn’t cut it with this group of dedicated Ladies.  That dedication doesn’t stop at the health inspections either!”

The regulations mandating what the inspections are based on, changed last year.  Health inspections for the ’15 -’16 school year, and many years before that, had been a three category, 27-point inspection.  The current Inspections are still three categories, but now Districts prepare for a more rigorous 47-point inspection.  The inspection categories cover food, staff & facilities.  Here are a few brief examples:

  • Food - How it’s cooked, stored & served. Including the condition, quality & temperature
  • Staff - Health, cleanliness & certifications; Managers are each Serve Safe Certified; All kitchen staff are Certified Food Handlers
  • Facilities - Overall cleanliness, equipment use & temperatures, Kitchen; properly maintained facility.
